Leadership Cape May County Coordinator – Contract Position

Position: Leadership Cape May County Coordinator

Status: Independent Contractor

Stipend: $4,000 for the Leadership program year

Education Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree (BA or BS) required

Reports To: Chamber Executive, who reports to the Cape May County Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation Board

Position Overview

The Leadership Cape May County Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact and coordinator for the Leadership Cape May County program. The Coordinator works closely with the Chamber Executive, Volunteer Leadership Steering Committee (VLSC), Education Foundation, Chamber staff, volunteer facilitators, program participants, speakers, venues, and Leadership alumni.

The Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that each monthly Leadership session is well organized, professionally executed, and consistent with the goals and standards of the Leadership Cape May County program.

Responsibilities

Program Administration and Coordination

Serve as the primary point of contact for Leadership Cape May County participants throughout the program year.

Maintain the Leadership program binder, including activities, attendance records, program materials, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Work collaboratively with the Volunteer Leadership Steering Committee, Chamber Education Foundation, and Chamber staff.

Attend Steering Committee meetings and provide brief updates on program activities, participant needs, and upcoming sessions.

Immediately communicate any significant issues, concerns, complaints, or emergencies to the Chamber Executive.

Coordinate speaker contracts with the Chamber Executive.

Confirm monthly speakers, volunteer facilitators, and afternoon venues.

Assist Leadership participants with the coordination and development of their Capstone Projects.

Provide appropriate administrative support to the Leadership Alumni Group.

Monthly Leadership Sessions

The Coordinator is required to attend each monthly, all-day Leadership session and will:

Greet participants at the beginning of each session.

Coordinate with and provide direction to the monthly Volunteer Facilitators.

Review the schedule and details for each session in advance.

 Introduce speakers and read speaker biographies as appropriate.

Confirm and coordinate breakfast and lunch arrangements.

Assist with room and program setup and ensure appropriate cleanup following the session.

Take attendance at every session and provide the completed attendance record to the designated Chamber contact following each session.

Help ensure that the day's program remains organized, professional, and on schedule.

Communications and Marketing

Coordinate public communications relating to Leadership Cape May County with Chamber staff.

Work with the VLSC and Chamber staff to coordinate program marketing, branding, social media updates, and Facebook content.

Maintain appropriate communication with participants regarding schedules, program information, expectations, changes, and other Leadership-related matters.

Graduation and Alumni

Attend and assist with the annual Leadership Cape May County Graduation Ceremony.

Coordinate with Chamber staff and the VLSC as necessary in preparation for graduation.

Support efforts to maintain engagement with Leadership Cape May County alumni.

Administrative Requirements

Submit required timesheets and mileage documentation monthly for reimbursement in accordance with established policies.

Maintain accurate and timely program records.

Keep the Chamber Executive informed of program progress and any matters requiring attention or action.

 

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree (BA or BS) required.

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to coordinate multiple individuals, organizations, speakers, venues, and program details.

Ability to work effectively with volunteers, business and community leaders, program participants, Chamber staff, and the Education Foundation.

Strong attention to detail and follow-through.

Professional demeanor and ability to represent Leadership Cape May County and the Chamber Education Foundation appropriately.

Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality when dealing with participant or program matters.

Availability to attend all scheduled monthly Leadership sessions, Steering Committee meetings as required, and the annual Graduation Ceremony.

Contract Term and Compensation

This is an independent contractor position supporting the Leadership Cape May County program for the designated program year.

The contractor will receive a $4,000 stipend for fulfillment of the responsibilities outlined in this job description. Approved mileage and other authorized reimbursable expenses will be handled separately in accordance with Education Foundation policies.

The Leadership Cape May County Coordinator is expected to work collaboratively with the Chamber Executive and Volunteer Leadership Steering Committee while recognizing that administrative oversight and accountability for the position rests with the Chamber Executive and, ultimately, the Cape May County Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation Board.
