The New Jersey Green Workforce Training Grant Challenge Phase 2 is a competitive funding opportunity that will award grants to launch or expand workforce development and skills training programs focused on strengthening and diversifying New Jersey’s green economy talent pipeline. The program will make available up to $4 million through this program, with individual awards ranging from a minimum of $500,000 to a maximum of $800,000. Priority in this grant challenge will be given to applicants that propose initiatives supporting training and job access for residents of Overburdened Communities. Proposed initiatives for the priority eligible occupations indicated in the grant specifications must be tailored to career pathways in one or more of the following industries: renewable energy technologies, green design and construction, environmental and green infrastructure, grid resilience, clean transportation, and energy efficiency.

The Grant Challenge will be open to entities who can design and execute workforce and skills training programs. Eligible applicants can include the following: Community-based organizations, workforce training organizations, labor unions, technical high schools, county colleges, non-profit organizations, regional workforce development boards, private companies, and other related entities.
All applications must include at least one Community-Based Organization with demonstrated experience serving a New Jersey Overburdened Community, as defined by New Jersey’s Environmental Justice Law. The Community-Based Organization must either be the applicant or a strategic collaborator with the applicant.
