CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE, NJ – Cape May County, New Jersey, is listed as one of the top tourism counties in the United States and a powerhouse of the American Travel Economy, according to Travel and Tour World (TTW) digital magazine.
The May 2025 edition of TTW, an international tourism publication, recently highlighted a shift in America's travel trends. “While major cities often grab the headlines, it's the counties, the local gems, that are quietly stealing the spotlight in 2024. From pristine beaches to rolling mountains, several U.S. counties have emerged as tourism giants, drawing millions each year and redefining the perfect vacation experience.”
The top U.S. counties recognized as tourism titans include Cape May County, New Jersey; Sevier County, Tennessee; Door County, Wisconsin; Cuyahoga County, Ohio; Orange County, Florida; and Holmes County, Ohio. Cape May County stands out as a premier tourism destination in the United States, based on its significant economic impact, high visitor numbers, and diverse appeal.

Cape May County, once considered a hidden gem, has emerged as a vital vacation destination and a unique lifestyle choice, offering more than just stunning ocean and bay views. The county's pristine beaches, iconic boardwalks, eco and natural areas, family-friendly resorts, and historic attractions draw a wide range of visitors throughout the year. A peninsula located at the southernmost tip of New Jersey, between the Atlantic Ocean and Delaware Bay, the county has a rich history of fishing and agriculture that continues to this day. The port of Cape May/Wildwood is the largest commercial fishing port in New Jersey and the second largest along the eastern seaboard.
