Published Wednesday, February 5, 2025

The Cape May County Chamber of Commerce will be welcoming Francis O’Connor, Commissioner of New Jersey Department of Transportation, at the Chamber’s membership meeting on February 20 at the Bellevue Tavern. The event is sponsored by AtlantiCare Health.

Commissioner O’Connor serves as the 20th Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Transportation, confirmed in June 2024 after being nominated by Governor Phil Murphy. A Jersey City native with over 40 years of senior-level experience in both public and private sectors, he has led multi-million-dollar transportation projects nationwide, including launching New Jersey’s first E-ZPass system during his tenure at the NJ Turnpike Authority. He will provide updates on projects happening in South Jersey, with an emphasis on Cape May County. A short Q&A session will follow, giving attendees the chance to interact directly with the Commissioner.

“The topic of this membership meeting is significant as transportation impacts everyone’s daily lives,” commented Chamber President Barbara Stafford Jones. “Hearing directly from Commissioner O’Connor, who brings extensive experience in managing transportation across the state, provides valuable insights. It is essential for our members to understand his vision and plans for South Jersey's transportation infrastructure.”

Pre-paid registration is required. Bellevue Tavern is located at 9 South Main Street, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. Check-in begins at 11:30 a.m. with the meeting presentation at 12:00 p.m. Visit www.capemaycountychamber.com/events to register and for more information.
