Cape May Stage’s Movie Night featuring “The Lads of Swampoodle" will benefit the local non-profit, The Longest Yarn. “The Lads of Swampoodle" is the story of a group of friends, primarily Irish Catholics who grew up in the Swampoodle section of Philadelphia in the 1950’s and 1960’s, then serving in Vietnam and remaining life-long friends and a support group for for each other over the rest of their lives.
All proceeds from this movie will be donated to “The Longest Yarn” project. The Longest Yarn is a three-dimensional wool tapestry, knitted and crocheted by thousands of volunteers worldwide and tells the momentous story of June 6, from the build-up and launch in England through the Normandy invasion. In April 2025, the tapestry will be exhibited at the Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum.
