CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE, NJ—The Cape May County Chamber of Commerce will hold its Annual Legislative Update sponsored by Comcast on Thursday August 15 at Icona, Avalon with Congressman Jeff Van Drew. In addition to representing the 2nd Legislative District of New Jersey, Congressman Van Drew Van Drew has been appointed to the Committee on Natural Resources and the Committee on Agriculture. On the Agriculture Committee, Van Drew was assigned the Biotech, Horticulture, and Research Subcommittee, and the Nutrition, Oversight, and Department Operations Subcommittee. On the Natural Resources Committee, he was assigned the Water, Power, and Oceans Subcommittee.
When it comes to legislative engagement, the County Chamber is well known for its’ business advocacy and leadership. “We look forward to hearing from our Congressman on legislative issues that directly impact our business community”, reported Vicki Clark, President of the County Chamber. “A few of the Chamber’s primary advocacy issues this year have been to block offshore oil drilling and seismic testing in the Atlantic Ocean, opposition to the federal $15 minimum wage bill, and supporting economic development initiatives like the UAS program in Cape May County. We continue to work on long-time priorities like the protection of the J1 Visa Summer Work Travel Program and increased funding for tourism and beach replenishment – all critical to our tourism driven economy.”
