Rally to Save our Sea March 18 in Cape May

Published Monday, March 11, 2019

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE, NJ – The Cape May County Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Clean Ocean Action will host a Press Conference and Rally on Monday, March 18 at 12 noon at Cape May Convention Hall to call attention to proposed seismic testing in the Atlantic Ocean.

The Press Conference is being held in response to the Federal Government’s unprecedented attempt to attack the Atlantic Ocean with a massive proposal to expand offshore oil and gas drilling, including possible projects off the Jersey Shore.  Seismic airgun blasting is done to search for offshore oil and gas and is extremely harmful to marine mammals and fisheries.

If approved by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, testing sites will range from Cape May, NJ to Cape Canaveral, FL and could begin as soon as early April.

Join business leaders, elected officials, environmental groups, concerned citizens, and students, to stand united against this devastating proposal for our Atlantic Coast.  For more information, call the Cape May County Chamber at 609-465-7181.
