Stockton to Host Workshop on Hospitality and Tourism Workforce Management and Marketing

Galloway, NJ - The Lloyd D. Levenson Institute of Gaming, Hospitality & Tourism (LIGHT) and The New Jersey Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Stockton University will present Hospitality and Business SpotLIGHT: Managing Your Workforce, Client Relationships and Social Media from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 11 at the Stockton University Campus Center.

The workshop will focus on the unique challenges and opportunities in human resources and marketing for small business owners and professionals in the Hospitality and Tourism Industries.

The program will include presentations by: Diane Holtzman, Associate Professor, Business Studies & Marketing Stockton University; Carie Wojdyla, Social Media Manager, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa; and Michael Chait, Digital Marketing Manager, The Press of Atlantic City.

The event will also feature a panel discussion on the topic of Recruitment, Hiring & Workforce Communication. Panelists include:

Alan Beatty, Vice President of Human Resources, Shore Medical Center
Beatty has been the Vice President of Human Resources for Shore Medical Center for 15 years. He is affiliated with American Hospital Association's Human Resources Society, New Jersey Hospital Association's Human Resources Executive Committee and Volunteer Hospital Association's East Coast Human Resources Committee.

La Shonine Gandy-Smith, CEO, Millennial Capital Investment, LLC
Gandy-Smith is recognized as an emerging voice on millennials and leadership. She advises both young, emerging talent looking to succeed in today’s work environment and the organizations that seek to develop and prepare young, professional talent.

Alexis Irving-Waiters, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, Director of Human Resources for the City of Atlantic City
Irving-Waiters leverages her 25 years in business to bring insight, perspective, and experience to all aspects of human resources. Her work with senior leaders as a strategic advisor and executive coach enables her to present human capital solutions and direction on business strategy.

Polly Moore, Assistant Vice President, Human Resources, Tropicana Casino and Resort
Prior to joining The Tropicana, Moore worked at Disney Parks as a Senior Labor Relations Leader and IKEA Corporate as its National Labor Counsel. She has a Juris Doctor from the University of Cincinnati where she also earned degrees in Economics and Political Science. She is an experienced lecturer and a former labor arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association. She has authored articles on Dispute Resolution for bar journals as well as a UK published text “Employment Law Today”.

Sherry Moore, HR/Accounting Manager, Claridge a Radisson Hotel
Moore, a graduate of Stockton with a degree in finance, has spent 20 years working in the casino environment. Having both HR and Accounting experience gives Moore a broad understanding of how businesses work.

The panel will be moderated by Dr. Rummy Pandit, Executive Director, LIGHT.
