COMMITTEE PROFILES

Chamber members are invited to share their knowledge and expertise by joining one of the organizations Action Committees. Some committees meet monthly, year round while others only a few times per year. To express your interest in joining one of these committees or to obtain more information about a specific committee, contact Chamber President Barbara Stafford Jones.

MEMBERSHIP & AMBASSADORS COMMITTEE:
Meeting Schedule: 1st Thursday at 8:30 am

This committee is dedicated to recruiting new members to help grow and strengthen the Chamber’s business-oriented community. It plays a key role in mentoring new members during their first year by maintaining regular personal contact, educating them on the benefits of membership, and serving as hosts at Chamber events to facilitate connections.


LEGISLATIVE & ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITTEE: CHAIRED BY STEVE MOREY
Meeting Schedule: 2nd Tuesday at 8:30 am

This committee monitors and advises the Chamber on legislation at the local, state, and federal levels that affect the business and tourism sectors in Cape May County. It also focuses on environmental policy issues and promotes sustainability efforts, encouraging conservation and green business practices.


TOURISM & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE: CHAIRED BY JIM RUTALA
Meeting Schedule: 3rd Tuesday at 8:30 am

This committee advocates for the interests of Chamber members in tourism and business, addressing concerns of Cape May County businesses through educational programs, marketing initiatives, and informational resources.


FINANCE COMMITTEE: CHAIRED BY MICHAEL MCMAHON
Meeting Schedule: As needed.

Chaired by the Board Treasurer, this committee is responsible for overseeing the Chamber's budget, managing capital projects, and ensuring sustainable growth.


EDUCATION FOUNDATION GOLF COMMITTEE: CHAIRED BY CHRISTA MASSOOD
Meeting Schedule: As needed.; Event date: TBD

Organize and promote the Annual Golf Tournament to generate funds for Education Foundation scholarships and professional development initiatives. This event offers a dynamic networking experience, featuring contests, prizes, and a streamlined format to maintain a steady pace of play, culminating in a lively post-play dinner.


WOMEN IN BUSINESS CONFERENCE: CO-CHAIRED BY JULIE MINER & RONNIE MOREY
Meeting Schedule: As needed. Conference date: FRIDAY, MARCH 6, 2026

The Women In Business Committee plans an annual conference addressing the unique interests and needs of women business owners and professional women with a focus on education and networking. 


NOMINATING COMMITTEE: CHAIRED BY DOUG BURKE
Meeting Schedule: As needed.

The Nominating Committee, as outlined by the Chamber's Bylaws, evaluates potential candidates to fill vacant seats on the Chamber's Board of Directors and compiles an annual slate of Officers for election. This committee is led by the Immediate Past Chairperson of the Board of Directors.


EDUCATION FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP DISTRIBUTION COMMITTEE: CHAIRED BY MAURA MCMAHON PRIMUS
Meeting Schedule: As needed.

The Scholarship Distribution Committee establishes criteria and evaluates scholarship applications across three categories: high school graduates pursuing college or university education, high school graduates entering trade schools, and adult learners enrolled in post-secondary education at Cape May County Technical School. Committee members annually review submissions and select recipients.


STRATEGIC PLANNING COMMITTEE: CHAIRED BY AMY MAHON

The Strategic Planning Committee monitors the progress and status of the Chamber's strategic plan.


LEADERSHIP CAPE MAY COUNTY ALUMNI COMMITTEE: 

This committee welcomes all alumni of the Leadership Cape May County program. Its members review the program's curriculum and provide recommendations for future enhancements.


ANNUAL MEETING COMMITTEE: CHAIRED BY CHRISTA MASSOOD

The Annual Meeting and Installation Dinner serves as a platform for members to network, welcome newly appointed directors to the Board, and celebrate excellence through the presentation of the Annual Excellence Awards.
