THERE’S A SPECIAL FEELING you get in the Wildwoods. Maybe it’s the invigorating feel of the salt-air on your face or the inviting smell of warm funnel cake. It might even be the free beaches beckoning you to remember carefree days gone by. Whatever it is, it’s undeniably The Wildwoods, and it’s been drawing families to the five-mile island for generations.

When it’s time for an enjoyably exciting vacation, the fun begins in the Wildwoods. Visitors can enjoy two and a half miles of boardwalk excitement – where there are a variety of spectacular amusement piers, world-class roller coasters, interactive water parks, carnival-style games of chance and entertainment venues for the whole family. Packed with fun things to do, the 38-block Boardwalk boasts over 100 exhilarating amusement rides for everyone from toddlers to grandparents. In fact, the Wildwoods resorts were named by the readers of FamilyFun Magazine as the “top tourist town in the Northeast.” It’s no wonder the Wildwoods attract more than 9 million summer visitors each and every year!

And the boardwalk is just the beginning. The Wildwoods offer sport recreation, biking, summer concerts in municipal bandshells and so much more. You can even don your sneakers for a beach aerobics class. And of course, there’s the crown jewel of the Wildwoods – five miles of FREE white, powdery beach – the most beautiful beach on the east coast, where you can kick off your shoes, take-in some sun, and let your stress melt away. The Oceanfront Arena at the Wildwoods Convention Center also plays host to concert, car shows, conventions and special events. Check out our Calendar of Events for the most recent events listing!

The Wildwoods are a haven for all things aquatic. For those feeling adventurous, there’s parasailing, wave running, fishing and speedboat rentals. When you’re looking for something with a slower pace, there’s scenic cruises and dolphin watching. And of course there’s also fishing – deep sea, surf fishing, fishing piers and boat rentals. Plus, you can rent equipment and participate in an island favorite, crabbing.

Bring the family down to see all of the different events the Wildwoods has to offer. Ranging from Cheerleading Competitions to Monster Trucks, there is something everyone in the family will enjoy. Plan your next vacation around one of the fabulous island fun-filled events. Two of Wildwood’s wildly famous events are when the city celebrates its Rock ‘N Roll history with the Sensational ‘60s Weekend in the spring and the Fabulous ‘50s Weekend in the fall. Both feature concerts with headliners from the day, dance parties and vendors.

When the sun sets, the Wildwoods come alive. Everything from live music to rocking nightclubs, there are dance clubs where the beat never stops and an eclectic mix of Irish pubs, traditional saloons and taverns.

When visiting the historic Wildwoods, sightseeing is a must! No matter what part of the island you’re on: North Wildwood, Wildwood, Wildwood Crest, or West Wildwood, there are interesting things to see around every corner. You’ll find the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse that was first opened for operation in 1874, and the George F. Boyer Museum, dedicated to the islands history and so much more.

When it’s time to retire for the evening, the Wildwoods boulevards are lined with a wide assortment of accommodations to fit every budget. Hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts… over 8,000 rooms, condos and house rentals, all within close proximity of the beaches and boardwalk. Many of the hotels and motels sit directly on the beach – you can sip your morning coffee and watch the sun rise over the Atlantic Ocean. One very popular type of motel architecture is Doo Wop – as it’s called in the Wildwoods – with shocking colors, outlandish styles and far out themes. Doo Wop got its start in the 1950s and half a century later, the architecture is once again all the rage in the Wildwoods. Jig sawed angles, colorful neon, crazy overhangs; pagoda peaks and lava-rock sidings are as distinctly visible through out the island as they were in 1960. Interested visitors can learn more about the Wildwoods’ motels on the Doo Wop ‘50s Tour, an award winning 45-minute tour held through out the summer.
For fun family times that will breed lasting memories, make sure to visit the Wildwoods.
